Color Street Nails: Are they worth it?

You can ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I am a pretty low-maintenance kind of gal. I'm ok with just throwing my hair up in a bun (unwashed), wearing t-shirts and jeans on a regular basis, and I don't own many/if any designer clothes. I do wear makeup regularly, but it is all drugstore brands.
I'm the kind of girl who gets a manicure usually just for big events like a wedding or cruise vacation. It's hard for me to spend the money on getting my nails done when I could see the potential for the same amount of money to get something for my classroom, house, or the kids. I like getting my nails done, I feel so confident and 'adulting' when I do, it is just pricey to do it on a regular basis.
And that's where Color Street Nails enters my life.
About a year and a half ago (pre-COVID) I was invited to join a virtual host party for Color Street Nails. I went and bought a few designs because that is what you do for friends (right??). I honestly didn't have much in the way of expectations for them. But to get a manicure look without spending the money or time at the salon, and without DRY TIME which for me would mean possible opportunities to mess up the nail. That was something I was willing to try.

I bought 3 sets and got one free, so 4 different colors in total. The first one looked awful! I thought I had wasted my money. It was wrinkly, didn't fit my nail shape, and only looked good from far away when you couldn't tell the details. That was the solid color "Himalayan Salt" (pictured here).
I ended up just throwing the rest of them in a drawer and forgot about them for a while.
I found them again sometime later and tried another set. Better, but still practice was needed on my end. This time the solid color was "Manchester Mauve" (pictured here). The color was very nice (more purple than the online image showed--see hand model picture), laying it down was a lot less wrinkly, but I still wasn't getting the cuticle shape right.
I was determined to not let my money go to waste and see if I truly put in the effort to shape my nails, cuticle, and follow all the directions and suggestions online if I could make it work and if they would give me the results I was looking for. I tried my third set and my first glitter set... I was not disappointed!
Behold, "Home Sleet Home"! Now, before you start judging my hand and nails, know that one--I am not a professional hand model and that's just what God gave me to work with. LOL. And two, these nails are actually 5 days in! I'm really impressed what the difference has been between the solid colors to the glitter color.

It's not lifting at the cuticle yet. It laid down flat and I got it to follow my nail bed line pretty darn well I'd say for my amateur abilities. And the polish itself is holding up to just life and being a mom (dishes, laundry, making dinner, t-ball practice, etc).
I have to say this color and this 3rd time around has really made me think that I can have my nails painted on a more routine basis. Do I wish the price was cheaper (about $11 a set)? Of course. But could I possibly fit $11 a month into my family budget to get that feeling of confidence and being 'put together? I think so!
I have one last set to try out from my original purchase. Here's hoping that "Berlin It to Win It" does indeed 'win' me over (see what I did there?? LOL. Ok, I'll stop now).
All the Best,
Emily
